I love Hallowe'en. Everyone knows it. This year was a little wild. Zach and I got our costumes two days before and everything was sort of a mad scramble. I threw a party at my work (turn of the century mansion? Yes please!). It didn't go exactly as I'd imagined (the food wasn't ready as quickly as I planned so I missed a lot of the socializing before dinner, I was still in regular clothes when people started arriving, Husky traffic made everyone late, there were more dishes than I've ever seen, we set up all the video stuff and didn't even GET to the movie, I had way too much food and we didn't even make dessert) but it was still marvelous. I really do think everyone had a good time and that's what's important. EVERYONE came in costume, thank goodness, and we had a blast. We ate dinner (chips, fresh guacamole, fresh salsa, creamy green chile soup, vegetable quesadillas, rice, beans, limonata, virgin sangria) and played games (Pictionary and Taboo). Some people had to leave early so there was a lot of tidying up, saying goodbye to some, and lounging around. It was wonderful. Everyone helped out in some way, setting up AV equipment (and taking it back down), cooking, setting the table, clearing dishes, etc. My friends rock hardcore. And a very happy Hallowe'en to you.

We are the spoooooooky pumpkin familyyyyyy!

On Hallowe'en night, Cara came over for some help with her costume. She's Lloyd Dobbler (and a very good one at that). She needed a copy of In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel to play on her boom box so I made a tape that looped it for over an hour. OH MAN.

Cara hadn't had time to fashion a Clash shirt for her costume so I whipped one up with her using Sharpies.

Quentin came with her. He's Bjork at the Oscars in the swan dress, can you tell? Notice the high heeled boots. Quentin is brave.

My full bash was on 1 November at the spooky old mansion where I work. I ended up with sixteen for dinner and some more later. In this photo you see Cory as Obi Wan (notice the braid taped behind his ear), Rob as a vampire, Matthew as a farmer, Brandy as Strawberry Shortcake, and Lindsay as a farmer with some important information for you. Way down at the other end of the tables, you'll see...

Kate and Steve as Trinity and Neo, Molly as Nancy Pearl (a local librarian immortalized in action figure form), and Sister Chris.

Cory (Obi Wan), Hillary (Marilyn Monroe -- check out that awesome wig), and Naomi (Calvin with her Hobbes). Please note that every time Naomi knew her picture was being taken she made a screwed up face. Just like Calvin. That's dedication.

Chris, the nun.

This is Lindsay. He doesn't want to bother you, but wants to share with you some important information if you have just a moment.

Cancer of the Pig Ass is an enormous problem that is constantly overlooked in favor of other, more exciting diseases.

Obi Wan and Marilyn.

Calvin, Hobbes, and Doug as Thomas 'Tommy' Callahan III.

Adrian came in his work clothes and was very excited about the blood capsules he got to use. Oh, what was he? Why, death of a salesman, of course.

Another shot of Bjork. Quentin made that swan head by decapitating a seal stuffed animal and cutting off it's whiskers and nose. He then cut the carrot away from a rabbit and sewed it onto the seal face as a beak. You heard it here first.

Neo and Trinity. Those guns are so cool (they're very realistic looking -- weighted and everything).

Molly's Nancy Pearl costume is so clever I can't even stand it. She was carrying around Nancy Pearl's book as well as the action figure for full effect.

Oh, Sean. Sean is my hero because he came way early and helped me cook for all of these mad kids. He stayed too late working on the food and had to miss dinner while he was changing (is that dedication or what?) but it was so worth it to me when he walked in the door dressed as Martha Stewart. OH MAN.

Here's Stace and Sean. Stace came in slumber party clothes (she'd already taken out her rollers at this point) because her costume as Courtney Love was too much work and too chilly for the sub-freezing weather we had going. Did I mention that there was a forecast for snow that night?

Rob's fangs were very cool. Matthew is striking a farmer pose.

Brandy's Strawberry Shortcake costume was SO CUTE! The freckles were all it took.

I got this picture of Abbie just as she was leaving. She was Lilo! She even carried around a talking Stitch and her doll, Scrump. So cute.

Oh no! A piano fell on the Wicked Witch of the East! She must be pissed!

I'm totally in love with this photo. First off, Zach is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I seriously just started grinning every time he came around a corner. That wig! That fuzzy suit! He even did the Burt Lahr voice all night long.

Please note that I am the Wicked Witch of the EAST -- the one that gets crushed by the house, remember? That's why I have the rockin footwear. And Zach is still cute.

Stacy took this photo from the balcony on the second floor. Nearly everyone is in the shot and many are making appropriate faces. I love my friends so much.
